Rome was not built in one day,but to have a good taste of it,there is the chance of a full day visit to flavour the beauty of some of its best monuments like Colosseum, St.Peter's Basilica, Trevi fountain, Spanish Steps etc.According to tradition, Rome was founded by romulus in 753 B.C.Romulus was to become also the first king of the city;after some centuries of monarchy Rome became a Republic and in the first century B.C.an empire extending its territories from England,to Spain, northern Africa and most of the eastern world.These are certainly the golden centuries which have left to us the most important classical monuments like the Colosseum. This amphitheatre was built between 72 and 80 A.D.it is the largest ever constructed for dimension and capacity (50.000spectstor). Most of it still standing. When inside you will feel like a spectator of the past waiting to see your favorite gladiator to fight. In the area around the colosseum there's much to see like the Palatine hill (the original site of the "citta' quadrata",which later became the imperial residence). The Forum:political,religious,commercial centre of Rome; but also modern Piazza Venezia, the Capitoline hill with its museum and much more.....For a best visit you should walk around Rome for days, but a full day visit will give you the best of a taste trying to drop you off and pick you up the nearest possible to all monuments and areas of intrest to avoid any waste of precious time.Just try it!!!
